For many states if you are out-of-state, you won’t be able to do electronic fingerprinting. Instead, you’ll need to do paper fingerprinting.

Alabama

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Alabama?

Since you’re out-of-state, you won’t be able to go directly to the state’s vendor, Gemalto Cogent. Instead, you’ll need to do paper fingerprinting. Still visit Gemalto to create an account, schedule your fingerprinting, and pay the fees through a credit card checkout. Send your fingerprint card to:

Arizona

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Arizona?

Since you’re out-of-state, you won’t be able to do electronic fingerprinting. Instead, you’ll need to do paper fingerprinting. During your FCC application, select to submit prints via a paper fingerprint card. The AZDPS will send a fingerprint card in the mail for use, or you can use a card supplied by a fingerprint vendor. For in-person fingerprinting, check with your local police department or contact a professional fingerprinting vendor.

California

How to get out of state fingerprinting in California?

If you live outside of California, you will have to submit your fingerprints directly to the DRE.

Here are the steps you should take to submit your fingerprints:

• The DRE will send you an FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card along with your license application.
• Get your fingerprints taken (by completing the FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card) at a local law enforcement agency.
• Mail the FBI Applicant Fingerprint Card to the DRE, along with your license application.
• You must include a $49 fingerprint processing fee, plus the $245 license application fee.

If you wish to get your fingerprints taken before the DRE mails you a fingerprint card (which you will receive with your license application, after passing the state exam), you can request a blank fingerprint card by calling the Licensing Section of the DRE at (877)373-4542.

Florida

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Florida?

Pearson VUE has many locations across the United States and offers testing on U.S. military bases as well. You can find the closest test center using their online search feature.

Pearson VUE also allows you to take the exam online with a remote proctor, using a computer, microphone and webcam.

Missouri

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Missouri?

An out-of-state real estate applicant must have their fingerprints taken by the local law enforcement agency through the process known as Cardscan. This agency will forward the fingerprints directly to IDEMIA. IDEMIA forwards these prints to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the FBI. Fingerprints must be sent to the following address:

A copy of the IDEMIA payment and a copy of the envelope that was used to send the fingerprints can both be used in lieu of the IDEMIA receipt when applying for a real estate license in Missouri.

Rhode Island

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Rhode Island?

All real estate salesperson applicants are required to submit a criminal history record from the Rhode Island DAG as part of their application. If you are not a Rhode Island resident, you additionally will need a CHR or a CORI report from your home state law enforcement agency. You will need to check with your specific state's agency on how to obtain this report.

Tennessee

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Tennessee?

If you reside outside of Tennessee or are otherwise unable to physically go to an IdentoGO location, you can choose IdnetoGO’s non-resident card scan service option. This service uses technology to convert a traditional fingerprint card, sometimes called a hard car, into an electronic fingerprint record that can be forwarded to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the FBI.

Your fingerprint record will be processed just as quickly with the card scan service as it will if you had traveled to a fingerprint processing location in-person. You will still need to enter the real estate service code, 28TZ99.

Utah

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Utah?

Nonresidents will still need to get their fingerprints taken for their Utah sales agent application. You will need to request fingerprint cards from the Utah Division of Real Estate. Take these cards to a local law enforcement agency or a third-party vendor for fingerprinting. You will then send them back to the Utah Division of Real Estate for processing. This will need to be accomplished within your 90-day window.

Virginia

How to get out of state fingerprinting in Virginia?

Even if you do not live in Virginia, you are still encouraged to get your fingerprints taken as a Virginia PSI testing location.
You must contact the Virginia Real Estate Board if you cannot be fingerprinted at a Virginia site.
