Are there free real estate appraiser courses available?
The Appraisal Foundation does not offer courses and directs students to state-approved education providers, so qualifying education itself must be purchased. Financial help does exist for the experience stage: the Pathways to Success Scholarship covers enrollment costs for Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) programs, and the Appraisal Institute Education and Relief Foundation offers a $4,500 scholarship toward PAREA registration.
Colorado does not provide free qualifying education, but scholarships can offset the cost of training. The Colorado Division of Real Estate reports that the Appraiser Development Initiative offers scholarships covering up to 100% of Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) tuition, which substitutes for supervised experience. Private foundations also offer periodic scholarships toward PAREA program fees.

Georgia does not offer free qualifying education; appraiser courses must come from providers on the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board's approved schools list, and each provider sets its own fees. The Appraisal Foundation funded a scholarship of $1.22 million over three years to cover enrollment costs for PAREA (Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal) training, but applications were closed as of the Foundation's August 2025 information.
