How do I become an art appraiser?

Art appraisers are personal property appraisers, a discipline outside the federal real estate licensing system. Federal law requires a state license only for real estate appraisers working on federally related transactions; there is no such requirement for personal property appraisers, though many professional organizations set their own qualification standards. The Appraisal Foundation publishes personal property standards within USPAP and offers a 15-hour personal property USPAP course, though that coursework does not count toward real property credentials.
