How do I find a VA-approved appraiser?
The answer depends on your state. Pick yours to see it.
You can find appraisers credentialed in Virginia through the National Registry, the federal database of state-credentialed appraisers maintained under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA). Virginia's Real Estate Appraiser Board licenses these appraisers, and the state had 2,986 state-credentialed appraisers on the registry at its 2026 federal compliance review. Check the credential level (Licensed Residential, Certified Residential, or Certified General) to confirm the appraiser's authorized scope of practice.
