How do I look up or verify an auto appraiser license?

There is no national license lookup for auto appraisers, because auto appraisal falls under personal and business property, which federal law does not license. Federal law requires a state license or certification only for real estate appraisers working on federally related transactions, so the ASC National Appraiser Registry lists only real property credentials (State Licensed, Certified Residential, Certified General). Some states do require certification for personal and business property appraisers, so any credential an auto appraiser holds is issued at the state level.
