How hard is it to become a certified general appraiser?

Certified General is the most demanding appraiser credential: it requires 300 hours of qualifying education, a bachelor's degree or higher, and 3,000 hours of experience in no fewer than 18 months, of which at least 1,500 hours must be non-residential work. An appraiser upgrading from Certified Residential must complete 100 more hours of coursework. By comparison, the State Licensed and Certified Residential levels require 158 and 200 education hours and 1,000 and 1,500 experience hours, respectively.
