How often is USPAP updated?
USPAP is updated on an as-needed basis by the Appraisal Standards Board, not on a fixed schedule. The most recent edition took effect January 1, 2024, and unlike previous editions it has no end date, so a new edition takes effect only when the Board adopts changes. Separately, practicing appraisers must complete the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course once every two calendar years to maintain a credential.
The current edition of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) is the 2024 edition, and the most recent update took effect January 1, 2024. Appraisers stay current with changes by completing the 7-Hour National USPAP Update Course (or equivalent) once every two calendar years, which South Dakota requires by July 1 of each even-numbered year.
