What are the new VA appraisal requirements for 2026?
The answer depends on your state. Pick yours to see it.
Virginia's 2026 changes track the Appraiser Qualifications Board criteria effective January 1, 2026. Trainee qualifying education is 83 hours and includes an 8-hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing course, and entry-level candidates complete 7 hours of valuation bias and fair housing training plus a 1-hour examination. For renewal, that course must be at least 7 hours the first time and at least 4 hours each cycle after. Application fees also changed effective January 14, 2026, and a $7.25-per-year technology fee applies to certain fees effective July 1, 2026.
