What does a real estate appraiser trainee do?

A trainee appraiser performs appraisal work under the direct supervision of a state-certified appraiser and may appraise only the properties the supervising appraiser is permitted and competent to appraise. Typical work includes measuring and photographing properties, verifying legal descriptions, and collecting and analyzing comparable sales. The trainee and supervisor keep an experience log for each supervisory relationship, and the supervisor signs and takes responsibility for all reports; trainees cannot independently appraise property for federally related transactions.
