What items add value to a home appraisal?
Appraisers weigh a home's overall condition, recent renovations and upgrades, amenities such as a pool or finished basement, size, location, and view. Structural condition, including the foundation and roof, also factors into the value opinion. Because the appraiser compares the property against recent sales of similar homes, features that are typical for the neighborhood count more than unusual additions.
