Who makes more money, a home inspector or a real estate appraiser?
Home inspectors earn more at the median. In May 2025, the median annual wage was $74,690 for construction and building inspectors, compared with $67,960 for property appraisers and assessors, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Earnings for independent fee appraisers can vary significantly, however, because they are paid fees on the basis of each appraisal.
