How do I become a field insurance adjuster?
To work as a field (independent) adjuster, you must be at least 18 and hold an adjuster license in your home state, completing any required prelicensing course and passing the state exam. Once licensed, most other states grant a reciprocal license without requiring a new exam. Sixteen jurisdictions do not license adjusters at all; residents of those states can obtain a designated home state license from Florida or Texas, which most licensing states accept.
