How does insurance adjuster license reciprocity work across states?
Reciprocity lets a state grant a nonresident adjuster license to an applicant who holds an active adjuster license in good standing in the home state, without requiring that state's exam or prelicensing coursework. Most licensing states reciprocate this way, and Florida and Texas also issue designated home state (DHS) licenses, which residents of states that do not license adjusters can use as their home-state credential. California, Hawaii, and New York do not reciprocate, so applicants there must complete that state's own education and exam requirements.
