How much does it cost to add a permit driver to car insurance?
The answer depends on your state. Pick yours to see it.
There is no fixed cost, because insurers handle permit drivers differently. Most add a permitted teen to a parent's or guardian's existing policy, which costs less than a standalone policy, and some companies charge from the first day of the permit while others wait until the driver earns the full license. An adult permit holder, or one who does not live with a parent, may need a separate policy.
