What are the continuing education requirements for title insurance agents?
Continuing education for title insurance agents is set state by state, and there is no national standard. Most states require producers to complete CE before a renewal application can be accepted. In Florida, title agents must complete a minimum of 10 hours every 2 years in title insurance and escrow management specific to the state, including at least 3 hours on ethics, rules, or compliance; excess hours can carry forward to the next compliance period.
Florida title insurance agents complete 10 hours of continuing education every 2 years: 3 hours in ethics, rules, or compliance specific to title insurance and closing services, plus 7 hours of standard CE. Hours are due biennially by the end of the licensee's birth month. Nonresident title agents follow the same requirement, and CE reciprocity is not available for title (s. 626.2815, Fla. Stat.).
