What degree is best for a career in the insurance industry?
No degree is required for a career in insurance. Typical entry-level education for insurance sales agents is a high school diploma or equivalent, though employers may prefer a bachelor's degree. A degree in insurance or risk management does carry a benefit: under the NAIC's Uniform Licensing Standards, states must waive prelicensing education for applicants holding a bachelor's or advanced degree in insurance, and many states also waive it for holders of professional designations such as CLU or CPCU.
