What is a designated home state (DHS) adjuster license, and how do I get one?
A designated home state (DHS) adjuster license is a nonresident license for people who live in a state that does not license adjusters; only Florida and Texas issue them. If your home state does not license adjusters, you apply to one of those two, meet its exam and fingerprint requirements, and can then use the license reciprocally in most other licensing states. For Texas you must pass the state adjuster exam or qualify for an exemption, such as a TDI-approved course completed within the last 12 months or the CPCU or AIC designation, and apply via Sircon within one year of passing.
