What is a life, health, and annuity insurance license, and how do I get one?
A life, health, and annuity license is a combined producer license that authorizes selling life insurance, annuities, and health coverage under one credential. States issue it under names like Life, Accident and Health (New York) or Health & Life including Annuities (Florida class 2-15). To earn it you must be at least 18, complete any required prelicensing education, pass the state exam, and apply through the state or the National Insurance Producer Registry. Selling variable annuities additionally requires FINRA registration (Series 6 or 7).
The 2-15 Health & Life (Including Annuities & Variable Contracts) license is Florida's combined life and health agent license; it covers life insurance, annuity contracts, health insurance, and representation of health maintenance organizations. To get it, complete a 60-hour approved life and health course within 4 years of applying, pass the Pearson VUE state exam, apply through MyProfile ($50 plus $5 license ID fee), and be fingerprinted. A degree with at least 9 credit hours of insurance instruction exempts you from the exam.

That license lets you sell life insurance, annuities, and health insurance. You can take the combined Life, Annuities and Health exam (Series 11-01, 2.5-hour limit) or the separate Life and Annuities and Health exams. Each exam costs $35, the application fee is $15 per line of authority, and resident applicants must be fingerprinted. No prelicensing course is required.
