Where do I get fingerprinted for my insurance license application?
Fingerprinting is done through your state's approved vendor, not at the insurance department. Common vendors include IdentoGO by Idemia, used in Texas, Florida, Georgia, and New York, and live scan vendors such as Capital Live Scan in California, where fingerprints can also be completed at PSI exam locations. Several states, including Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, list no producer fingerprint requirement at all, so confirm your state's licensing page before scheduling.
You can be fingerprinted at Pearson's Overland Park, Topeka, and Wichita test centers, which offer digital fingerprinting by reservation for a $20 fee (as of July 2026); bring a government-issued photo ID. You may instead still submit paper fingerprint cards to the Kansas Department of Insurance. All fingerprints, digital or paper, are valid for 365 days.
