Will AI replace insurance agents?
Federal projections point to continued demand rather than wholesale replacement: the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects insurance sales agent employment to grow 3% from 2025 to 2035, about as fast as the average occupation, with about 43,100 openings per year. The BLS notes that online direct-purchase reduces some demand, but agents remain needed for advice. Automation concerns appear mainly in claims work, where the BLS expects technology and artificial intelligence to automate some tasks.
