How long does a real estate license application take to process?

The Nebraska Real Estate Commission staff reviews application materials within 24 to 48 hours and sends progress emails to applicants. The typical application process takes approximately 4 to 8 weeks, which includes a criminal background check that averages 4 to 6 weeks after fingerprint submission. The application and background report remain valid for 1 year from the date the application is received.

Once your sponsoring broker authorizes your application through eAccessNY, the Department of State generates your license that week and mails it to your broker's business address. Before this step, your broker must log on to their eAccessNY account and approve the application, after which DOS reviews it for completeness.

TREC states that the 5-to-10 business day license issuance timeline indicated in Pearson VUE form letters is "not accurate" due to ongoing REALM Portal integration issues with Pearson VUE exam records and DPS fingerprinting.
