When is the deadline to complete real estate continuing education?

Continuing education deadlines are tied to your license renewal date, which varies by state. State licenses are typically renewed every 2 to 4 years, and most states require continuing education within each renewal period: 22.5 hours per two-year term in New York, 18 hours per two years in Texas, and 45 hours per four-year term in California. Missing the deadline usually triggers late fees or an inactive license, and you cannot perform licensed activity until the renewal is complete.

Continuing education must be completed by June 10 each year, and no CE courses are offered for credit between June 11 and June 30. All North Carolina real estate licenses expire on June 30, and the renewal period runs from May 15 to June 30. New licensees (by examination or reinstatement) are exempt from CE during their initial license year but must satisfy the 8-hour requirement before their second renewal.
