Where can you take real estate continuing education courses?
Through providers approved by your state's real estate commission, which publishes an approved-education list. Options include community colleges, real estate schools, and state and local associations, and many states allow the coursework to be completed online. New York's Department of State, for example, lists approved qualifying-education schools and continuing-education providers, and Pennsylvania requires courses from a Commission-approved provider.
Continuing education courses can be completed online or in person through any AREC-approved provider, and online courses must be taken from Alabama-approved online providers. AREC allows a maximum of 9 CE hours to be earned on any single calendar day, and the AREC website includes a course search tool and a CE credit check feature. CE taken in another state counts only if it was a classroom course with documentation of approval by that state's real estate commission.

The Alaska Real Estate Commission certifies approved education courses and instructors and maintains a list of approved real estate schools on its website. Licensees may also receive CE credit for courses taken outside Alaska from a nationally recognized real estate education provider, provided the course is evaluated and approved by submitting form #08-4533 to the Commission. No more than 10 hours of continuing education can be completed on any single day.

Continuing education courses in Arizona are available from ADRE-approved schools in three formats: self-paced online, instructor-led livestream, and in-person classroom. Only courses approved by the Arizona Department of Real Estate qualify for CE credit, and outside education such as other states' CE or university credits is not eligible. Licensees must self-report course completions through the ADRE Licensee Login using certificates that include the course number, start date, and end date. The Arizona Association of REALTORS® and local REALTOR® associations also offer CE classes, some at no cost for members. Continuing education courses must be taken from a provider approved by the Arkansas Real Estate Commission (AREC), which maintains a list of approved education providers on its website. Most providers report CE completions electronically to AREC, but if a provider does not report electronically, the licensee must mail CE certificates to AREC. The California Department of Real Estate (DRE) maintains a searchable online portal of approved continuing education courses where you can filter by course provider, type (live or correspondence), and subject. Courses are also available at California community colleges and through private vocational schools with DRE approval. Available CE subjects include Agency, Ethics, Trust Fund Handling, Risk Management, Fair Housing, Implicit Bias Training, Consumer Protection, and Consumer Service.

Colorado accepts both online and in-person continuing education courses, with no state limit on the number of CE hours that may be taken online. Courses must be completed through providers approved by the state. The Colorado Real Estate Commission develops a mandatory four-hour Annual Commission Update Course each year, and approved elective courses cover topics such as fair housing, ethics, contract law, real estate finance, property management, and brokerage administration. Brokers must complete 24 hours of CE per three-year license cycle: 12 hours from three different versions of the Annual Commission Update Course and 12 hours of electives.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection maintains a searchable database of approved real estate schools and courses for continuing education, organized by category for salespersons and brokers. Continuing education courses may be taken in person, live online, or self-paced online, provided the course appears on the state's approved list. Only Connecticut-approved courses satisfy the state CE requirement, and out-of-state courses may be submitted for equivalency credit toward elective hours only. The state's approved providers offer CE courses at varying price points and formats.

Delaware accepts online continuing education from providers approved by the Delaware Real Estate Commission. CE courses are also offered by local REALTOR® associations in Delaware and at the annual Delaware Association of REALTORS® conference, which provides up to 9 hours of CE credit. The Commission's approved-provider list identifies authorized schools, and online CE is fully accepted by the state.

The DC Real Estate Commission publishes a list of approved continuing education providers on its website. CE courses are available in both online and in-person formats from these approved providers, covering the mandatory topics of DC Fair Housing, DC Ethics, DC Legislative Update, and Property Management, plus elective hours. Local REALTOR® associations in the DC area also offer approved CE courses, including the required DC Fair Housing course and 15-hour renewal packages.

Continuing education courses may be completed in a classroom, through online distance education, or via live virtual instruction. Local REALTOR® associations offer FREC-approved classroom CE courses statewide, and the Florida REALTORS® state association provides both a monthly live virtual CE series and an on-demand self-paced platform. The Georgia Real Estate Commission publishes an approved schools list on its website, effective August 18, 2026, that identifies providers approved for continuing education courses. GREC also offers online courses covering license law and continuing education topics for $10 each. The Hawaii Real Estate Branch provides an Education Provider and Course Search tool on its website that allows licensees to find approved CE courses by course type, hours, date, title, island, and delivery medium (classroom or internet). CE courses must be taken from providers approved by the Hawaii Real Estate Commission, and both in-person and online formats are available. Licensees can view their CE history and print completion certificates through their MyPVL account, and principal brokers can access CE information for all licensees associated with their brokerage through the same system.

Continuing education courses must be offered through an Idaho certified provider and certified by the Idaho Real Estate Commission. Online courses must be Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO) certified to qualify for CE credit. The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency maintains a Free Search and Verify page on its website where licensees can find approved continuing education providers. CE courses may be taken online or in person, and online CE is fully accepted in Indiana. Some professional association memberships include 12 hours of CE each year at no additional cost as a member benefit. Continuing education courses must be taken from providers approved by the Iowa Real Estate Commission, which maintains a list of approved courses, providers, and instructors on the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) website. Courses may be completed through live instruction, including classroom settings or Zoom with real-time visual and audio contact, or through distance learning such as computer-based instruction. A maximum of 24 hours may be taken by distance learning each renewal period, and at least 12 hours must be via live instruction.

The Kansas Real Estate Commission maintains a directory of approved continuing education providers and courses on its website. Kansas CE courses are available in three delivery formats: classroom, online self-paced, and webinar (live video). Self-paced online courses require a passing score of 90% or better on exam or quiz questions, and webinar courses require students to be present and engaged on camera for the entire course. Education providers must report course completion to KREC within 5 calendar days of completion or by the license expiration date, whichever is sooner.

The Kentucky Real Estate Commission maintains an approved-education provider list on its website, organized by course type including continuing education, post-license education, and core education. As of August 2026, KREC lists 45 approved continuing education providers. Pre-license, post-license, and continuing education courses are available both online and in person. Licensees should select courses from the state's approved-education list to ensure credit toward the annual CE requirement.

The Louisiana Real Estate Commission (LREC) maintains a public directory of approved continuing education vendors on its website, where licensees can find certified CE providers. Local REALTOR® associations also serve as approved CE vendors in Louisiana. Continuing education courses in Maine are available from providers approved by the Maine Real Estate Commission, and the state maintains an approved-education list that licensees can consult. Massachusetts continuing education courses must be taken through real estate schools authorized by the state Board of Registration. The Board publishes a Continuing Education Course Listings page on Mass.gov, organized by subject-matter categories such as Fair Housing, Agency Law, and Real Estate Board Regulations. Licensees may complete all 12 required CE hours online, provided the course meets the Board's requirements for time-based delivery, a minimum 2-hour duration, and periodic student-engagement prompts.

Since November 1, 2018, Michigan real estate continuing education courses must be certified by CE Marketplace, a platform operated by Michigan REALTORS®. Licensees can search for certified in-person and on-demand courses through the CE Marketplace website at no cost. Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) no longer approves or tracks CE courses directly, so CE Marketplace serves as the official system for finding courses that satisfy the 18-hour per 3-year cycle requirement.

Approved continuing education course providers can be found on the Pulse Portal at pulseportal.com by selecting the Minnesota Department of Commerce and the Real Estate board. Minnesota REALTORS® offers on-demand CE classes through MNR Academy, with some classes available at no charge. Minnesota requires 30 hours of approved CE per two-year license period, with at least 15 hours completed during the first 12 months of each cycle.

The Mississippi Real Estate Commission maintains an approved continuing education provider list on its website, and licensees may take CE courses through any approved provider. The Nevada Real Estate Division maintains an education calendar on its website listing approved continuing education providers, including classroom courses, distance education options, and live-streaming sponsors. CE courses are available from NRED-approved providers in both online self-paced and live instruction formats, with at least 18 of the required 36 CE hours for subsequent renewals needing to be completed through live instruction. Continuing education courses for North Dakota real estate licensees are available from NDREC-approved providers and can be taken entirely online. Ohio law allows licensees to complete all 30 hours of continuing education online, including the 9 hours of core courses in Canons of Ethics, Core Law, and Civil Rights. CE may also be taken via livestream or in-person classroom through approved providers. The Ohio Housing Finance Agency offers free online CE courses, including a 1-hour elective on its Homeownership Programs and a 3-hour Civil Rights course on removing barriers to homeownership.

The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission maintains an approved-education registry where licensees can find approved continuing education providers. There are no limits on the number of CE hours that can be taken online, and courses are available in both online and in-person formats. Resident Sales Associates and Broker Associates must complete 30 hours of CE every three years, while non-resident licensees must complete 8 hours of Oklahoma-specific CE each cycle. Inactive licensees are not required to complete continuing education but must still renew their license every three years.

Pennsylvania requires 14 hours of Commission-approved continuing education during each two-year license period, and courses must be completed through an approved education provider. To locate approved providers, visit the PALS verification site at www.pals.pa.gov/verify and search under the Real Estate Commission for Real Estate Education Providers; three subtypes exist: RE for in-state schools, RU for out-of-state schools, and RUC for accredited colleges and universities. Both online and in-person delivery formats are permitted, and first-time standard licensees must complete a 7-hour General Module and a 7-hour Residential or Commercial Module.

The RI Department of Business Regulation publishes a list of approved real estate schools for both pre-licensing and continuing education on its website. Licensees may take CE courses from any school, instructor, and course that the DBR has approved.
