How much does a mortgage loan officer charge?

A mortgage loan officer is usually paid a loan-specific fee or commission, paid either by the borrower or by the lender. Federal law prohibits commissions from varying based on the terms of the mortgage. A lender may pay a salary, a fixed amount per loan, or a fixed percentage of the loan amount, sometimes subject to minimums or maximums per loan.
