How should a loan officer introduce themselves to clients?

A loan officer should introduce themselves with their name, their role, and their unique identifier from the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). Federal rules require a mortgage loan originator to provide the unique identifier upon request, before acting as an originator, and in any initial written communication with a consumer. The identifier lets the client verify the officer's license and employment history for free on NMLS Consumer Access.
