Is there a minimum income requirement to become a mortgage loan originator?

No, there is no minimum income requirement to become a mortgage loan originator. Federal standards instead require demonstrated financial responsibility, character, and general fitness, which state regulators evaluate in part through a credit report you authorize through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS). A state may not deny a license solely on a credit score: Florida law bars denial based only on credit score or absent credit history, and Illinois regulators state that no decision is made solely on a credit score.
