What is a home loan banker?

A home loan banker is a mortgage lender: a financial institution that makes direct mortgage loans with its own funds rather than brokering them. A lender differs from a mortgage broker, which does not lend money but finds different lenders or loans for borrowers, who pay the broker a loan-specific fee. Some financial institutions operate as both lenders and brokers.
