What is the difference between a mortgage advisor and a mortgage loan officer?

A mortgage advisor is usually the same job under a different title; some lenders call their loan officers advisors or specialists. The legal requirement turns on the activities, not the title: anyone who takes a residential mortgage loan application or offers or negotiates terms for compensation must be licensed or registered as a mortgage loan originator under the SAFE Act, regardless of what the business card says.
