All courses are approved by the New York Department of State (NYS DOS) and certified by ARELLO (Association of Real Estate License Law Officials). Course content is designed to satisfy the 22.5-hour continuing education requirement for active New York real estate salesperson and broker license renewals. It is the licensee's responsibility to confirm their individual renewal requirements based on their license expiration date and renewal cycle. - All NYS real estate license renewals must be completed through your eAccessNY account.
- According to Article 12-A of NYS Real Property Law, every agent holding a real estate license must renew their license every two years. Your license expiration date is printed on your real estate license.
- If you fail to renew your license on-time, your license will be considered expired and you will not be able to practice real estate until your license is reinstated.
- If your NY real estate license has been expired for more than 2 years, you must retake the NY state licensing exam and apply for a new real estate license.
- You can renew your license through your eAccessNY account up to 3 months prior to the expiration date.

You can begin renewal up to 3 months before your license expiration date, and the Department of State sends an email and postcard reminder at that time. To renew, you must complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing education, and salespersons and associate brokers must have a sponsoring broker to be eligible for renewal. Can I renew my real estate license after it expires in New York? If your NY real estate license has been expired for less than 2 years, you may have your license reinstated by completing the following: Complete the required 22.5 hours of continuing education. What can you do with an inactive license and how do you keep it active in New York? For a New York real estate license that has expired, there is a two-year period from the date of expiration wherein you can renew your license. With an inactive license, you will not be able to conduct brokerage activity or any real estate sales. To reinstate your license within the grace period, you’ll need to complete 22.5 hours of CE Credits with an approved school.
