All new salesperson candidates must take the 40-hour Vermont pre-license course from an approved education provider. You can also search for approved courses in the Office of Professional Regulation (OPR) portal. Upon successful course completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The national salesperson examination fee is $110 and is non-refundable. PSI accepts major credit cards, cashier’s check, or money orders.

The national licensing exam is 100 multiple-choice questions on a range of real estate topics. There may also be up to five "pre-test" questions that do not count for your score. The Candidate Information Handbook breaks down the topics and the number of questions per topic. The total time for the exam is 2.5 hours.

If you pass the exam, the score report will have license application instructions. If you did not pass, the report will have your scores and re-application instructions.

All Vermont salespersons work under the supervision of a licensed real estate broker. Your hiring broker must complete the employment/supervision form as part of your license application process.

In Vermont, the Office of Professional Regulation oversees the application and licensure process. The OPR only accepts online applications.

All new Vermont real estate salespersons must take 8 hours of post-licensing education within 90 days of their initial licensure. Select from the approved courses and providers to comply, or your license may not be renewed.
