The following are the mandated steps to get a Michigan real estate license.
You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Michigan to apply for a license. Non-residents must submit a Consent to Service of Process with the Michigan Licensing & Regulatory Authority.
Step 1: Complete the 40-hour Michigan real estate course. Select a course provider approved by the Michigan Bureau of Professional Licensing. You can select either an online course or one where you must commute to physical classes.

Step 2: Meet all the conditions for getting an MI real estate license as determined by the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Authority (LARA).

Step 5: After receiving approval for your application for a license, schedule a Michigan real estate State Exam through PSI Services.
Select a test center in Michigan where you want to physically appear for the test. Complete the exam, which has 115 multiple-choice questions, in 180 minutes. The passing grade is a minimum of 70%.
Step 6: You must find a licensed broker who will employ you in the initial stages of your career. The broker that sponsors you will receive an active license on your behalf after which you can start work as a real estate salesperson.
