Ensure that you are 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent to get a real estate license in Pennsylvania.

Go through the following six steps to get a PA real estate license.

Step 1: Complete the 75 hours of pre-licensing coursework consisting of the following subjects.

  • Real Estate Fundamentals: 30 hours 
  • Real Estate Practice: 45 hours

Before selecting a PA real estate course, ensure that it is approved by the State of Pennsylvania. Each course will have a proctored exam which you must pass to get a Certificate. 

Step 2: Schedule the PA real estate licensing exam with Pearson VUE Testing Center that provides testing programs.

Of the 120 questions, 80 are in the national section and 40 in the state section. The total time allotted to complete the exam is 180 mins with the passing grade being 75%.

Step 4: The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission mandates a criminal record check after you pass the licensing exam. This check is done through the police website PATH. Your criminal record check must not be more than 90 days old when you submit your application for a license   

Step 4: Find a Pennsylvania real estate broker to sponsor you at the start of your career. Your sponsoring broker will be holding your activated license during the tenure of your employment.
