How does the state know that I have completed the pre-license course?

For most states you will be unable to schedule and take the state licensing exam without providing proof that you have completed the education requirements.

There are a few states where you will be able to schedule your state exam prior to completing your real estate licensiing course. Find out more by clicking below on the state you are interested in.

Alabama

How does the AREC know that I have completed the Alabama pre-license course

You can’t take the state licensing exam without successfully completing the pre-license course. You will pre-register with the AREC before finishing the pre-licensure course, which will provide an identification number. Your course provider uses your ID number and sends your completion to the state and to PSI.

Alaska

How does the AREC know that I have completed the Alaska pre-license course

You will turn in your certificate of completion for your pre-license education when you submit your Alaska salesperson real estate license application. Keep in mind your core certificate is only good for 18 months, so you have a year-and-a-half to submit this license application.

Arizona

How does the ADRE know that I have completed the pre-license course?

When you make your real estate salesperson license application, one of the documents you must provide is an official score report showing that you successfully passed the pre-license course. You must also bring this course completion certificate to your state exam as evidence you have met the education requirement.

Arkansas

How does the AREC know that I have completed the Arkansas pre-license course

You must submit the course completion certificate with your licensing application. The AREC won’t approve you to take the course licensing exam without it.

California

How does the DRE know that I have completed my pre-licensing courses?

When it comes time to submit your state exam application, the DRE requires you to include copies of your three Course Completion Certificates (one for each of the 3, 45-hour pre-license courses).
The DRE will use these Certificates as evidence that you have completed the 135-hour education requirement.

Colorado

How does the CDRE know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You must submit with your broker application proof of education. This will be either an official transcript foreign major course of study from an accredited college or university or form REC-33 Course Completion Certificate for your 168 hours of pre-licensing education.

Connecticut

How does the CDCP know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You are required to turn in a Course Completion Certificate from a state-approved school with your salesperson license application. Your application won’t be approved without it.

Delaware

How does the DDPL know I have completed the pre-license course?

Your responsibility is to submit a pre-license course completion certificate with your salesperson license application. Proof of education is a requirement for receiving your real estate license.

Florida

How does the FREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

Once your application has been approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission, test proctor Pearson VUE will be automatically notified and will send you an official authorization letter or email. You will then be able to reserve an exam date and time. You may schedule online or by calling Pearson VUE customer service at 888-204-6289.

Hawaii

How does the HREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You will be unable to schedule and take the Hawaii state salesperson licensing exam without providing proof that you have completed the pre-license education requirement. You'll need to bring the course completion certificate with you to the exam site. You also need to turn this in with your licensing application.

Idaho

How does the IREC know that I have completed the Idaho pre-license course

With your Idaho real estate salesperson license application, you will need to submit proof that you have completed the pre-licensing education. You will need to turn in the certified copies of your course completion certificate.

Illinois

How does the IREC know that I have completed the Illinois pre-license course

The state's testing vendor PSI will need proof of your course completion from your course provider. You can’t schedule and take an exam without this course completion certificate. Visit this link to register as a student with PSI so your course provider can submit your course completion certificate.

Indiana

How does the IREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You must submit your original course completion certificate with your broker application as proof you successfully met the state’s education requirement.

Iowa

How does the IREC know that I have completed the Iowa pre-license course

You will be required to submit all of your pre-license course completion certificates as part of your licensing application. You won't receive a salesperson license without proof of education within the last year.

Kansas

How does the KREC know that I have completed the Kansas pre-license course

As part of your Kansas real estate salesperson application, you must turn in your pre-license course completion certificates dated within the last six months of the application date.

Kentucky

How does the KREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

First, you will need to have the school code in order to register for the state licensing exam. This will help them verify that you finished the hours. Second, you will need to provide your proof of pre-licensing education with your Kentucky sales associate application.

Louisiana

How does the LREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You must submit with your salesperson application Part A the certificate of completion from your 90-hour pre-license course provider.

Maine

How does the MREC know that I have completed the Maine pre-license course

You’ll need to turn in your sales agent course completion certificate dated within the last two years with your license application. Otherwise, the Commission won’t approve your sales agent license.

Maryland

How does the MREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You can’t take the state licensing exam without your real estate school sending your testing eligibility to PSI. In this way, MREC knows you’ve completed the course. Keep your certificate for the license application.

Massachusetts

How does the Massachussetts Board of Registration know that I have completed the pre-license course?

Your course provider will issue you a Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Educational Certificate form. You must include this form with your license application package submission.

Mississippi

How does the MREC know that I have completed the Mississippi pre-license course

You are required to submit your pre-license course completion certificates with your salesperson license application. You will not be approved to take the state licensing exam without evidence you have completed the education requirement.

Missouri

How does the Missouri Real Estate Commission know that I completed the pre-license course?

RealEstateU notifies the State of Missouri within one week for each student who has completed each (or both) pre-exam license courses. RealEstateU notifies the MREC at least once a week with these updates. MREC CSR 2250-7-080 (17).

Montana

How does the MBRR know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You must provide your official course completion certificate from your course provider. Without it, you won't be approved for a license.

Nebraska

How does the NREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

Most state-approved course providers will electronically send your course completion certificate to the Nebraska Real Estate Commission. Otherwise, when you submit your salesperson license application, you are required to provide proof that you have completed your pre-licensing education. You must provide your course completion certificate to the Commission.

Nevada

How does the NDRE know that I have completed the pre-license course?

The NDRE will know that you completed the pre-license course when you submit the course completion certificate as part of the license application. Your salesperson application cannot be approved without this certificate.

New Hampshire

How does the NHREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

New Hampshire Real Estate Commission requires you to submit proof of completing a pre-licensing course when you turn in your exam registration form. You won't be approved to take the state licensing exam without turning in proof of education.

New Jersey

How does the NJREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

Your course provider notifies the testing vendor PSI that you have passed the education requirement and qualify to take the state licensing exam. You can’t take the required licensing exam without satisfying the 75-hour education requirement.

New Mexico

How does the NMREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You will be required to submit the three course completion certificate showing that you have successfully completed all the required education. The certificates must be dated within three years of your license application to qualify for the broker state exam.

North Dakota

How does the NDREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

It is up to you to submit your course completion certificate to the North Dakota Real Estate Commission whenever you have completed the course. They will not issue your license until they have received your original course completion certificates.

Ohio

How does the ODRE know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You must submit your course completion certificate as part of your state exam and license application. You can’t sit for the exam or receive a license without it.

Oklahoma

How does the OREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You will need to submit a copy of your course completion certificate to the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission as part of the provisional salesperson application.

Oregon

How does the OR Agency know that I have completed pre-license course?

Finishing your 150 hours of education qualifies you to take the state exam. Since you can’t take the PSI-administered exam without it, the Agency knows you have met the education requirement.

Pennsylvania

How does PA state know that I have completed my pre-license courses?

As part of your license application, you must submit copies of your two Certificates of Completion to the Commission. The Commission will use your Certificates as evidence that you have completed the 75-hour pre-license education requirement.
If you have been actively licensed in another state within the past 5 years, you must submit a Certificate of Licensure from that state, which includes proof that you have completed at least 75 hours of real estate license education in that state. The Certificate must be dated within 90 days of your application.
The Commission may waive the 75-hour pre-license education requirement if you hold a bachelor's degree with a major in real estate, or a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school. In order to obtain this waiver, you must submit certified transcripts along with your license application.

Rhode Island

How does the DBR know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You are required to provide a course completion certificate with your salesperson license application that shows you have taken the required education within the last two years of your application date. Without this, you won't be approved for a salesperson license.

South Dakota

How does the SDREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

You are required to submit your course completion certificate to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission when you apply for your license. Without this proof of education, your application will be denied.

Texas

How does TREC know that I have completed my pre-licensing courses?

As part of your license application, you must include copies of your 6 Course Completion Certificates. TREC will use these certificates as evidence that you have completed the 180-hour qualifying education requirement.
The school will not notify TREC that you have completed the courses.

Utah

How does the UDRE know that I have completed the pre-license course?

The UDRE knows that you finished your pre-license when you apply for your license. One of the required documents for your application is the Candidate Education Certifying documents. This document is provided to you as soon as you pass the final exam for your pre-license course.

Vermont

How does the VREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

When you submit your salesperson license application, you will be required to upload a copy of your pre-licensing course completion certificates. Without this, your application will be incomplete.

Virginia

How does the Virginia Real Estate Board know that I have completed the pre-license course?

Your school will send your information to the PSI testing center within 5 business days of you passing the final exam for the 60-hour pre-license course.
The Real Estate Board uses this submission as evidence that you have completed their education requirement.

West Virginia

How does the WVREC know I have completed the pre-license course?

The West Virginia Real Estate Commission requires you to turn in your valid Course Completion Certificate with your license application. It won’t be approved without proof of education.

Wisconsin

How does the DSPS know that I have completed the Wisconsin pre-license course

RealEstateU will send your course completion information to the DSPS after you have completed the course final exam. The DSPS will use this as evidence that you have completed the 72-hour Wisconsin real estate salesperson course.

Wyoming

How does the WREC know that I have completed the pre-license course?

The Wyoming Real Estate Commission will know you met the salesperson education requirements because you must turn in your certificate of course completion with your license application.
